About
Marcia Liu is a Shanghai-born artist based in Rochester, New York, working across sculpture and printmaking. Her practice explores how emotional and psychological conditions can be sustained through provisional structural relationships.
Her sculptural work engages with discarded industrial materials, including aged pipes, plastics, and salvaged metal, which she reassembles into unstable configurations. These structures remain visibly unresolved, held together through improvised and contingent points of support, where stability emerges through adjustment rather than permanence.
Her printmaking, primarily in monotype, examines similar concerns through layered spatial constructions. Architectural fragments, linear frameworks, and abstract forms accumulate across compressed visual space, reflecting how memory and perception are continuously reorganized rather than fixed.
